The Thin Line Between a Friend and a True Friend

Hey there, and welcome to Uniqueness!

It’s been a while since I last shared my thoughts here, but life has a way of circling us back to the things we’re most passionate about. For me, that’s writing, especially about things that matter deeply, like food security, sustainability, and the raw realities of life. But today, I want to ease in with something we all experience: friendship.

Let’s talk about the difference between a friend and a true friend.

At some point, we have all called people friends. Classmates, colleagues, neighbors, even someone we chatted with a few times online. But I’ve come to realize that there is friendship, and then there is that rare gem of a true friend.

A friend can like your posts, check in occasionally, and share moments while a true friend feel your silence, show up when no one else does, and challenge you when you are going off track. They may not always be physically present, but their loyalty, honesty, and presence in your life are unwavering.

True friends don’t compete with you, they celebrate your growth and grieve with you in loss. They remind you of your worth when you forget it yourself. They don’t just laugh with you; they stand with you.

And here is the hard truth: not everyone we walk with is meant to stay for the long haul. And that’s okay. Life filters people for a reason.

So, if you’re reading this and someone comes to mind, someone who has been your anchor in the storm when you needed it, maybe it’s time to send them a heartfelt “thank you.”

As for me, I'm just getting started again. Uniqueness will be a space where I share truths, explore our world’s food and sustainability challenges, and reflect on the things that make life meaningful.

Thanks for stopping by. Let’s keep growing, questioning, and staying real together.
